Affiliate disclosure

WhichBike is free to use and carries no advertising. We fund it through affiliate commission: when you click a link to a retailer and buy something, that retailer may pay us a percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid going direct.

What commission does not affect

Which bike we recommend. The ranking engine is a pure function of a bike's published specifications and the answers you give us. It has no access to commission rates, retailer identities, or whether we have a programme with anyone at all. You can read the whole method on our how it works page.

What it does affect

Which retailer we send you to, but only as a tiebreak. We rank retailers by price first and stock availability second. Where a bike is only sold direct by the manufacturer, we link to the manufacturer whether or not they run an affiliate programme.

How links are marked

Every commission-earning link is labelled on the page and carries a rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute, as required by the Advertising Standards Authority's guidance on affiliate marketing and by Google's link-attribution rules.

Networks we work with

Several, because retailers do not all use the same one — Awin, AvantLink, and programmes some manufacturers run themselves. Retailers currently included are Tredz, Sigma Sports, Halfords, Decathlon, Evans Cycles, Canyon and Ribble. We add retailers on the basis of price, stock and returns policy — never on commission rate, and never because a network was easier to join.

If we get it wrong

Prices and specifications change constantly. Always check the figures on the retailer's page before buying, and tell us if something here is out of date.
